The Colby Campus offers ample parking for everyone throughout the summer. We ask that all visitors to the campus adhere to the parking policies established by our security department. Following these few rules will make parking easy and convenient for everyone.
These violations will be strictly enforced with tickets and/or towing.
Handicapped spaces are available for those with special needs. If
other accommodations need to be made, please do not hesitate to call
the security department.
The security office is located on the first floor of the Roberts building. The office is staffed 24 hours a day. An on duty dispatcher monitors all campus alarms and communication systems. Security officers are also on duty around the clock. Officers patrol the campus on foot and in a marked patrol vehicle. They have immediate contact with all local emergency services. For non-emergency calls, dial 5530 or 4000 from any campus phone. From any non-campus phone, dial 859-5530 or 859-4000. If you need emergency assistance, dial EMER (5911). This phone number is Colby's emergency hot line. Please don't use this number unless it is an actual emergency.
Each residence hall is equipped with smoke detectors and sprinkler systems. If an alarm is activated, it rings locally in the building and also activates an alarm that is monitored in the security office. If you hear an alarm, please leave the building for your own safety. When you arrive at your assigned residence hall, it's important to acquaint yourself with the fire exits in your area. Spend just a minute or two and decide what you would do if you had to leave the building quickly.
Colby's pastoral campus is exceptionally beautiful during the summer months, and sometimes one may forget about a few common safety practices. Please be careful about locking the door of your residence hall room. The number one crime on campuses across the country is theft. Valuables left unattended and accessible are easy targets for a thief. If you see anyone suspicious or anything out of the ordinary, call security immediately. That's why we are here. It's also a good idea to keep valuables out of sight in your room and vehicle. If you feel uncomfortable about walking anywhere on the campus, call the security department for an escort. An officer will respond and ensure that you arrive safely.
