Coach Kelly Terwilliger is entering her first season as head coach of Colby College. Coach Terwilliger has coaching experience at three NCAA Division I schools and a collegiate playing career at The Ohio State University. Coach Terwilliger was an associate head coach at Indiana University and had assistant coaching stints at Ohio State and Ohio University. She started at Colby on June 1. Coach Terwilliger graduated from Ohio State in 2009 after helping the Buckeyes to three NCAA Division I Tournament appearances and a BIG TEN Championship in 2007. She earned a master’s degree in sports administration and master’s degree in coaching education from Ohio University in 2011.While earning the two master’s degrees at Ohio University, Coach Terwilliger helped the Bobcats to two Mid-American Conference (MAC) tournament and regular season titles in three years. The 2011 squad made the NCAA final 16, and the 2009 team competed in an NCAA play-in game. Coach Terwilliger was a four-year scholarship player and started every game of her career at Ohio State as a defender. An All-Big Ten Academic selection and an Ohio State Scholar-Athlete honoree, Coach Terwilliger helped the 2006 Buckeye team win the Big Ten conference championship. She earned Big Ten all-tournament team honors in 2007 and won Ohio State’s Most Valuable Defender award in 2007. During her coaching career, Coach Terwilliger has been heavily involved in the United States Field Hockey Association (USFHA) Futures Program. Coach Terwilliger holds a Level II USFHA coaching accreditation, the second-highest accreditation in the U.S. system. She has been a regional Futures Elite head coach since 2009 and a regional tournament selector since 2011. Coach Terwilliger actively coaches for the USFHA High Performance training and won the USFHA Women’s National Championship in June 2014. She has directed and instructed at camps throughout the Midwest and at collegiate camps at Ohio State, Indiana, Penn State, Rutgers and Bucknell.
