Transfer Applicants

Transfer Applicant Information

Each semester we reserve a handful of spaces for incoming transfer students. But transfer admissions is a competitive process, so be sure to tell us the story behind your decision to continue your education at Colby. Applicants for spring-semester transfer should have completed at least one full semester in residence at an accredited college or university prior to matriculating at Colby. Fall-semester transfer students should have completed at least two semesters in residence prior to matriculation.

Application Requirements

If you’re considering transferring to Colby, make sure to apply sometime before your sophomore or junior year in order to maximize your number of transfer credits. We accept up to 64 semester credit hours toward a degree, as determined by the Colby registrar.

Financial Aid Information for Transfer Applicants

We encourage students from all financial backgrounds to apply for admission to Colby. Though transfer admission is highly competitive, if you are admitted and qualify for aid, we’ll meet 100 percent of your need as determined by the College. And you won’t see loans as a part of your financial aid package, because it’s our policy not to include them. Don’t let the cost of attending deter you from applying to Colby.

Documents can be sent via the College Board’s Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC).

To grant permission for Office of Admissions and Financial Aid at Colby to share information and discuss financial aid matters pertaining to your file with someone other than your parents, please complete our Permission to Share Financial Aid Information form.
