The Colby Commitment Experience

The Commitment Experience

Sunday, September 18 – Tuesday, September 20, 2016

We invite you to take the opportunity to attend classes with our world-class professors, learn about our talented and diverse community of scholars, stay overnight in a dorm, and experience life as a Colby student. We are committed to ensuring students from all backgrounds have access to a Colby education and to providing the support and resources that help you succeed. Students attending U.S. high schools are eligible to apply. Travel grants are available for participants with demonstrated financial need.

The Colby Commitment

It’s our extraordinary national effort to ensure the most talented students from every background have access to the best possible education. We promise to meet 100 percent of your demonstrated financial need by packaging your aid award with grants, not student loans, and there is no fee or supplementary essay requirement to apply. We want you to graduate ready for the future, so we provide funding and pair you with advisors who guide you as you conduct research, study abroad, or take on the internship that positions you to succeed. Learn more about the Colby Commitment.

“I applied to Colby through EDI [Early Decision I], and I’m so glad I did! The brochures, YouTube videos, and the school website were all great, but ultimately it was the Experience weekend that made me fall in love. The glimpse of college life—sleeping in the dorms, going to class, meeting my track coaches and teammates, hearing amazing a cappella, eating in the dining halls, and hanging out with urrent students—gave me great confidence in my decision. As a prospective student coming from Hawaii I wasn’t sure I’d acclimate, but during the trip, I found what I was looking for at Colby: my new home.”

“Before I attended Experience Colby I knew little about the school and was completely blown away by how easily I fit in with the campus. Before visiting, I thought I would be most interested in a large university. Colby changed my mindset entirely and I fell in love with its cozy, tight-knit community, prestigious academics, and emphasis on the outdoors. Honestly, it is a challenge to pinpoint a particular part of the visit that I enjoyed the most.”
