Holly Berry
Printmaker and Illustrator to Lecture at Colby
On Wednesday, November 3, at Colby College, Maine printmaker and illustrator Holly Berry will give a lecture on the uses of relief printmaking. Berry will show her own book illustrations and discuss her unique technique for hand coloring prints. The 4 p.m. lecture, sponsored by the Colby art department and Arts Lecture Fund, will be held in Bixler Art and Music Center, room 154, and is open to the public free of charge. A reception will follow.
Berry lives in Waldoboro and works as a book illustrator and printmaker. She received her B.F.A. in illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design and did graduate work at Boston University. Her linoleum cuts have been used to illustrate books for Houghton Mifflin Co., Simon and Schuster, North South Books and Harper Collins. In 1996 the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators awarded Berry the Golden Kite Award, a national award for illustration. Berry’s limited edition hand-colored prints have been exhibited in numerous shows throughout the U. S. Berry has taught at Boston University, the Rhode Island School of Design and conducted workshops throughout the state of Maine.
