Strong eighth for men's cross country at Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. --- The Colby College men's cross country team had two runners in the top 50 and improved three places from the previous year after taking eighth out of 17 teams in the Williams College Invitational on Saturday at Mt. Greylock High School.
 
Colby took 11th out of 16 teams at last year's meet.
 
Colby captain Ben Desmond was the top Mule finisher, taking 37th place in 27 minutes, 35 seconds over the 8-kilometer course.
 
Mule sophomore Jeff Hale also broke the top 50 in the race of 208 finishers in 27:49. He took 47th place after finishing 89th at last year's meet. Paco DeFrancis (27:58) took 59th place, Charlie Coffman was 63rd in 28:01, and Chase Brown had a 28:08 for 70th place.
