WATERVILLE, Maine --- Seven Colby College men's tennis players earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete honors and the Mules also were honored with the ITA All-Academic Team award.
Players needed to have at least a 3.50 grade point average for the academic year to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
Senior tri-captain Robert Yee (Quincy, Mass.), classmates Joe Albano (Marstons Mills, Mass.) and Sam Grant (Andover, Mass.), junior Matthew Mantikas (Glastonbury, Conn.), and sophomores Matt Carroll (Greenwood Village, Colo.), Luke Martin (East Sandwich, Mass.), and Jason Ottomano (Weston, Conn.) earned individual honors.
Colby's men's program, under head coach Doanh Wang, earned the honor for having a team cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above. All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average in the GPA for the current academic year (fall 2011 and spring 2012).
