Monahan, Hodsdon have top 10 finishes

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --- Kayleigh Monahan finished in eighth place in the 100-yard backstroke and Morganne Hodsdon was ninth in the 500 freestyle for the Colby College women's swimming and diving team at the MIT Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The Colby women finished in sixth place in the seven-team meet with a score of 197.

Monahan had a time of 1:02.85 in the 100 backstroke, while Hodsdon finished in 5:22.08 in the 500 freestyle. Kathryn Lee was 12th (5:28.20) and Heather Cronin (5:28.35) took 13th for the Mules in the 500 freestyle. Lee also placed 11th in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.32 and Hodsdon finished in 12th in the 200 freestyle with a 2:02.21.

First-year Shuana Yuan was 14th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.60. Yuan also teamed with Monahan, Lee, and Hodsdon to take seventh in the 200 medley relay (4:13.61).

The 800 freestyle relay team of Monahan, Lee, Hodsdon, and Cronin placed seventh in 8:17.58. Lee, Hodsdon, and Monahan also joined forces with first-year Katie Southworth in taking seventh in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:43.89.
