For the Summer 2021 Virtual CAPS Experience

Q. When does the summer CAPS Experience Run?

A. Sunday July 18-Saturday July 24

Q. Do I have to complete a separate application for CAPS?

A. No, all admitted students are considered.

Q. When will I know if I’ve been selected for CAPS?

A. Students will be notified by mid-June 2021

Q.  Who selects students for CAPS?
A. Faculty members and admissions representatives take part in the selection process.

Q. What is the cost to participate in CAPS?

A. Thee is no cost for students to participate. Students will receive a $500 stipend for their participation in the virtual 2021 experience.

Q. Will I receive academic credit for the CAPS 2021 Virtual Experience?

A. Credit will not be awarded for the one week experience.

Q. What is my daily time commitment for the one week CAPS 2021 Virtual Experience?

A. The week will start on Sunday July 18th with a shorter afternoon session when we will get to know each other and set out the expectations of the week. For Monday-Friday students are expected to be available throughout the day and have time in the evenings for reading and enrichment activities.

Q. What are the technology requirements for the one week CAPS 2021 Virtual Experience?

A. Students need to be able to access Zoom and log into their Colby accounts so that they can use Google applications. If a student does not have access to a laptop please reach out to program coordinator Sasha Alcott ([email protected]). Please also contact Ms. Alcott if a student has concerns about internet accessibility.

 

For Summer 2022

Q. What are the dates of the six-week program?
A. The program usually runs from late June/early July through early to mid-August

Q. Do I have to complete a separate application for the CAPS program?CAPS Students and Prof. Whitney
A. No, all admitted students are considered.

Q. When will I know if I’ve been selected for the CAPS program?
A. Students are notified on a rolling basis starting in April of each year.

Q. Who selects students for the CAPS program?
A. Faculty members and admissions representatives take part in the selection process.

Q. What is the cost for me to participate in the CAPS program? 
A. There is no cost for students to participate in the CAPS program. CAPS students receive a stipend of $2,500 plus room and board for the six-week program; all travel and off-campus activity expenses are also paid.

Q. Where will I live and eat for the summer?
A. Students stay in campus dormitories with access to the dining hall for summer meals.

Q. Will I receive academic credit for the program?
A. Students will earn one graded academic credit for their work to apply to the 128 credits needed to graduate.
