Colby is committed to ensuring access for everyone at our events. Below, please find information regarding our services, which you can arrange by contacting the Office of Campus Events at 207-859-4735. To learn more about accessibility at Colby events, please contact Karen Ledger at email@example.com.
Accessible parking spaces are designated in all parking areas. (See a map of Commencement parking here.)
During Baccalaureate and Commencement, additional accessible spaces can be found along Bixler Drive (near the museum) and in the adjacent Roberts lot. Security staff will be available prior to events and visible to assist with parking or drop off questions. For additional information, please contact the Office of Campus Events by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 207-859-4735.
Golf carts will be available throughout Commencement Weekend (during daylight hours) to assist in transporting guests with limited mobility to and from events and parking areas. If a ride is needed and a cart is not visible, please call Security at 207-859-4000 and request a cart be dispatched to your location.
Seating for guests in wheelchairs is available for Commencement. However, we ask that you contact the Office of Campus Events in advance to make arrangements at 207-859-4735 or by email at email@example.com. In order to best ensure arrangements, we ask that you contact us by May 17, 2019.
Please note: Tickets are required for the accessible seating section. Additionally, due to limited space, only one guest may escort each individual sitting in the accessible seating section. To reserve accessible seating, please contact the Office of Campus Events by May 17, 2019. All tickets will be distributed to seniors during senior week.
The College offers a limited supply of wheelchairs free of charge, on a first-come, first-served basis. Wheelchairs may be signed out from the Security office in the Roberts Building while on campus. Locally, wheelchairs may also be rented from Kennebec Pharmacy and Homecare at 207-626-2726.
Sign Language Interpreters
For guests who have a hearing impairment, a sign language interpreter will sign at both Baccalaureate and Commencement. If guests require this service, please contact the Office of Campus Events at 207-859-4735 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org by May 17, 2019.
Options for Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing Persons
To support individuals who are deaf and/or hard of hearing, we can provide ASL interpreters and/or remote CART services. If you require either or both of these services, please contact the Office of Campus Events at email@example.com or 207-859-4735 by May 17, 2019.
Accessible restrooms are available near the Commencement site. The most convenient restrooms are located in the Lovejoy and Keyes buildings. If the event moves indoors due to inclement weather, accessible restrooms are located in the main lobby of the Harold Alfond Athletic Center.
Vegetarian (V), vegan (VE), and gluten-free (GF) options are available at all weekend meals with no advance notice required. Dana Dining Hall does not serve peanuts or tree nuts, with the exception of coconut, and does not use peanut oil in cooking.
If you or a family member has a special diet that requires other accommodations, we ask that you contact the Office of Campus Events two to three weeks in advance of Commencement.
Pets and Service Animals
Pets are prohibited inside all College buildings and at all dining events. Service animals are welcome.
