The River Rail Launch Event: 11/14/19
The River Rail: Occupy Colby is a collaborative project that brings together students, faculty, and members of the extended Colby community to investigate our current climate crisis. Produced by the Lunder Institute for American Art, the Colby College Museum of Art, and the Brooklyn Rail, The River Rail: Occupy Colby builds on the themes of the exhibition Occupy Colby: Artists Need to Create on the Same Scale that Society Has the Capacity to Destroy, Year 2, curated by Lunder Fellow Phong Bui.
Putting into dialogue the work of scientists and artists, novelists and activists, this publication reflects Colby’s strengths as an institution dedicated to interdisciplinary scholarship.
Through work in an array of genres–poems, interviews, nonfiction essays, and drawings, to name a few–the journal asks whether rigorous scientific investigation, humanistic inquiry, and artistic imagining might be combined to offer a response commensurate to the scale of environmental challenges.
Please join us on Thursday, November 14 at 5pm in the Brewster Reading Room of Miller Library for a community gathering featuring author readings from The River Rail: Occupy Colby.
Refreshments will be served; 21+ bring ID.
