Brown Ash Endangerment and Indigenous Solutions
Environmental Studies students in EH Postdoctoral Fellow Chris Walker’s “Life in Times of Extinction class,” Grace Neumiller, Keller Leet-Otley and Tommaso Wagner have published an article about how invasive Emerald Ash Borers are destroying Brown Ash trees in Maine. The Brown Ash is essential to the Wabanaki people, who use it for basket-weaving and place it at the center of their creation stories. So far, the article has been published in FAUNA, The Times Record, The Lantern, The County, The Maine Compass, and elsewhere.
