Samantha Lovell ’16 and Elizabeth McCormack ’15 Attend International Marine Conservation Congress in Scotland
Two Colby students will present original research about marine conservation issues in New England at the International Marine Conservation Congress in Glasgow, Scotland, August 14-18. [http://www.conbio.org/mini-sites/imcc-2014] Samantha Lovell ’16 is the presenting author on a project titled “Restoration of Historical Fisheries and Ecosystem Services: Alewife Fisheries in Maine,” evaluating the return of the anadromous species following dam removal and other restoration efforts in the state. Elizabeth McCormack ’15 will present her analysis of historicalobservations of sharks in waters around Cape Cod, Mass., to put recent increases in shark sightings into along-term context.
