Colby’s French & Italian Department invites you to a talk by guest speaker:
Professor Sylvie Largeaud-Ortega
University of French Polynesia

In 1789, in the Pacific ocean, a mutiny broke out on His Majesty’s ship the Bounty. To this day, most discussions, films, and novels expand on the romantic rebel Fletcher Christian and his nemesis allegedly tyrannical captain William Bligh. What this talk proposes is to investigate instead Tahiti, where the Bounty events took place.
