We believe early resources are critical to the success of any venture. We offer two grants to Colby students. The Ideate and Explore grant helps teams do the early and critical work of finding and validating an unmet need. The subsequent Iterate and Expand grant helps teams build the product or service and test the value proposition.

The Ideate and Explore grant is for early stage teams. It is intended to help with a preliminary exploration to find and validate an unmet need. We invite both for-profit and nonprofit ventures to apply. We also welcome you to meet with Halloran Lab staff to strategize how best to conduct the research and determine key assumptions. Halloran Lab will try to match grantees with Colby alumni and industry experts to assist with the research.
Requirements to apply:

- Description of market research
- Business model canvas
- Description of team and roles
- Description of use of grant funds
- Schedule office hours to review your application.
- Eligibility
- One grant per venture per academic year.
- Venture team must have at least one currently enrolled Colby student.
The Iterate and Expand grant is intended for teams that have already identified an unmet need and are ready to test the value proposition of their product or service. This may involve building a prototype or minimal viable product (MVP) to test the product-market fit. Grantees work closely with Halloran Lab staff and often with industry mentors and alumni experts.

- Description of additional market research
- Updated business model canvas
- Description of team and roles
- Description of use of grant funds
- Pitch deck
- Dedicated mentor
- Pitch to panel of experts
