Exporting a WordPress Site to an XML File

  1. Go to web.colby.edu and login to your WordPress site
  2. In your Dashboard, click on Tools and choose Export
  3. Click the Download Export File button—WordPress will create an XML file for you to save to your computer containing your posts, pages comments, categories and tags.
  4. Once you’ve saved the download file, you can use Site Admin (under Meta menu) > Tools > Import > WordPress at another WordPress site to import this data.

Note: this export process does not save any site images. You will need to manually save any site images you want to keep.
