The Pestana Collection aims to capture the essence and feeling of the Great War (1914-1918) as revealed in the books, magazines, audio and video recordings, memorabilia and artifacts of and about that period. The Great War drastically changed the Western world: dynasties ended, new revolutionary political institutions developed, and the fabric of Western society was altered.
A current exhibit showcases this rich collection. Titled “Pestana: The Story of a Great War Collection,” the exhibit is on view in the Miller Library service desk area through 20 August.
Please join us for a tribute to professor/collector Harold Pestana (1931-2018) on Wednesday, 14 August, 2-4 pm in the Miller Library reading room. We will enjoy a beer/wine reception, with informal remarks at 3pm. Additional Great War artifacts will be on display for hands-on exploration.
