Total applicants rose 47 percent over last year. Steve Saunders, interim vice president and dean of admissions and financial aid, said the pool was strong by nearly every measure of academic preparation. The percentage of students of color increased by 62 percent, outpacing overall growth.
How did it happen?
• Strategic efforts to seek out the most academically qualified students in all parts of the country.
• Additional staff to increase the number and effectiveness of high school visits.
• Emphasis by admissions officers and in materials on the College’s rigorous, individualized academic experience.
