Lionel E. “Lee” Mathieu ’57, Dec. 14, 2012, in South China, Maine, at 78. A member of ROTC, he declined an invitation to the New York Giants rookie camp to fulfill his military commitment as a navigator in the Air Force. He sold pollution control equipment in the pulp and paper industry, coached Little League, refereed high school football, and served in the Maine Air National Guard. Predeceased by brothers Maurice ’54 and Henry Mathieu ’50, he is survived by his wife of 53 years, Louise, four sons including Timothy A. Mathieu ’88, and seven grandchildren.
