The Friends of Art at the Colby College Museum of Art are sponsoring a Tuesday, September 12, trip to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for a guided tour of the Van Gogh: Face to Face exhibition. A bus will leave Colby’s Roberts Building parking lot at 7 a.m. and will return at 10 p.m. The cost of the trip is $45 per person.

Van Gogh: Face to Face includes more than 70 of the artist’s finest portraits from museums and private collections all over the world. The exhibit includes van Gogh’s self-portraits, a group of 17 portraits of the family of Joseph Roulin, the postman at Arles, and paintings and drawings of family and friends. Works from all stages of van Gogh’s brief career are featured, including not only the famous, intensely-colored portraits he painted in France, but also the little-known but striking studies of characters that he encountered in his native Netherlands. Trip participants will be provided an audio tour of Van Gogh: Face to Face and free time in Copley Place for shopping and dinner.

For further information on the Friends of Art trip or to make a reservation, contact the Colby Museum of Art at (207) 872-3228. Payment should be made by September 4.
