Actor, author, playwright and Colby graduate Mike Daisey will present his one-man show 21 Dog Years: Doing Time @ Amazon.com on Friday, September 27, at Colby. 21 Dog Years comes directly to Colby after a six-month Off-Broadway run to strong reviews. The performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Strider Theater in the Runnals Building on the Waterville campus.
Daisey worked in the customer service and business development sectors of Amazon.com from 1998 through 2000. 21 Dog Years opened in 2001 and chronicles Daisey’s adventures at the world’s largest bookstore–where he says he learned to “slavishly love idealistic mouth breathers, 60-hour weeks and the cult of personality that is Jeff Bezos.” He has been called the “First Internet Dot.Comic” and has been featured in publications including Wired, Newsweek, The New York Times and the London Guardian. In June of this year Simon & Schuster published the book version of 21 Dog Years.
Daisey is a native of Fort Kent, lived in Etna during high school and is a member of the Colby Class of 1996. His other one-man shows include Wasting Your Breath and I Miss The Cold War.
General admission is $3; students and seniors are $2. For ticket information call the box office at 207-872-3358 between 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday of performance weeks.
