Colby College’s Department of Theater and Dance will present the play Iph…, an adaptation of Euripides’s Iphigeneia in Aulis, November 21-23. Performances will be held nightly at 7:30 p.m. in Colby’s Strider Theater in Waterville. Colby’s production of Iph… is directed by Assistant Professor of Theater and Dance Laura Chakravarty Box.

Iph… is playwright Colin Teevan’s radical re-visioning of Euripides’s tragic masterwork. It unwinds intersecting cycles of national and domestic violence in an evening of poetry, dance and spectacle. Set on the brink of the Trojan War, Agamemnon, leader of the Greeks, must decide whether to sacrifice his daughter Iphigeneia to the gods in return for fair winds on his fleet to Troy. Agamemnon is played by senior Jared Eggars (Medina, Ohio). Iphigeneia, played by junior Aimée Lynn Jack (Lewiston, Maine), faces the prospect of death by her father’s hand to ensure victory for her nation.

General admission is $3; students and seniors are $2. For ticket information call the box office at 207-872-3358 between 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
