The piano trio Triple Helix will perform at Colby College on Saturday, March 1, as part of the 2002-03 Music at Colby Concert Series. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Lorimer Chapel on the Waterville campus. The event is open to the public and free of charge.

Triple Helix’s concert program will feature “Kakadu Variations, Op. 121a” by Beethoven, “Trio in D Minor, Op. 3” by Alexander Zemlinsky, “Trio in A Minor” by Maurice Ravel and “Piano Trio” by Lee Hyla written for Triple Helix in 2002. At 6:30 p.m. composer Lee Hyla will provide a demonstration of “Piano Trio” and be available for a discussion with audience members.

Triple Helix features Lois Shapiro on piano, Bayla Keyes on violin and Rhonda Rider on cello. When the three musicians formed Triple Helix in 1995, The Boston Globe described their music as “the livest live music in town.” The ensemble is recognized as among the best piano trios on the music landscape today.
