Collegium Musicum, Colby’s early music group, will present its spring concert on Sunday, May 4. The 3 p.m. concert will be held in Lorimer Chapel on the Waterville campus and is open to the public free of charge.

The concert program will feature madrigals, songs and secular music from the turn of the 17th century with a special emphasis on the works of Claudio Monteverdi. Also included on the program is 20th-century composer John Tavener’s A Village Wedding from the Greek Orthodox wedding service.

Directed by Steve Grives, visiting professor of music, the Collegium Musicum is an 18-member ensemble of students, faculty and community members who perform music from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Baroque periods.
