The Colby College Museum of Art will be closed until Wednesday, July 9. Installation of “Cherished Possessions: A New England Legacy,” an exhibit of treasures from the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities, is underway. It is one of the most ambitious exhibitions in the museum’s history, and professionals from SPNEA and the museum are busy preparing for the July 16 grand opening of that show.

“We think people who get to see ‘Cherished Possessions’ will agree that it is worth the wait,” said Daniel Rosenfeld, the Carolyn Muzzy Director of the Colby College Museum of Art.

The museum will reopen July 9 with regular hours of 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 2-4:30 p.m. Sunday. “Cherished Possessions” opens July 16. The Colby College Museum of Art is the inaugural venue for the “Cherished Possessions” exhibit, which runs through October 27 here before embarking on a two-year national tour.
