The Colby College Museum of Art in Waterville will be closed Monday, September 1, for Labor Day. The museum will resume regular hours Tuesday, September 2. Cherished Possessions: A New England Legacy is currently on exhibit at the museum.

Cherished Possessions: A New England Legacy features fine and decorative arts from the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities (SPNEA)’s renowned collection. It is on view through October 27. The 200 objects include furniture and photographs, costumes and jewelry, and paintings and textiles that together form a picture of life in mid 17th- to mid 20th-century New England. Since 1910 SPNEA has compiled the largest collection of New England antiquities from the 17th century onward. The Colby College Museum of Art is the only New England venue on the exhibition’s national tour. For information on the exhibit visit www.colby.edu/museum/spnea.

Colby museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free, and the museum is accessible to persons with disabilities. For information call 207-872-3228 or visit www.colby.edu/museum.
