Although the Jewish community has traditionally been a vocal opponent to anti-immigrant rhetoric, groups failed to take a stand against presidential candidates until the Anti-Defamation League recently called on them to keep the debate respectful. “What I fear is that on this issue, the Jewish community, which has taken such important principled stands in the past, has left some of those stands behind in favor of crasser politics,” said Colby College political scientist L.
