David Eaton, a former ABC News executive, has been named director of communications and marketing at Colby.
Eaton, 44, most recently was ABC’s chief of the southern bureaus and western bureaus, where he organized the network’s coverage of stories such as Hurricane Katrina and the 2000 presidential election as it played out in Florida. He also managed the network’s Kuwait bureau during the Gulf War and established an office in Albania during the 1999 Kosovo crisis. Eaton was part of a team that earned a Peabody Award for coverage of the events of September 11, 2001.
He began his career in broadcast journalism as a student at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., working as an ABC News desk assistant from 1984 to 1988. After a brief stint as an assignment editor for the syndicated series “USA Today on TV,” he rejoined ABC News in 1990 as an assignment editor in the London bureau.
