The Colby community once again participated in Cans Across America, a national effort to break the world record for food collection in one day. More than 8,000 pounds of non-perishable food were collected by Colby’s Dining Services on Nov. 12. The food is being donated to local food pantries and the Good Shepherd Food Bank, which disperses non-perishable food throughout the state.

More than 530 U.S. college campuses and more than 200 senior centers and hospitals served by Sodexho attempted to break the record for the “largest food drive by a non-charitable organization in a 24-hour period” in the Guinness World Records by collecting 396,833 pounds of non-perishable food. Results are forthcoming.
