As the only Republican to actively campaign in Maine, Ron Paul is hoping a good showing in the state will boost his campaign. “The conservative support will likely be split among the candidates, so there is an opportunity for Ron Paul supporters to use the caucuses to gain attention for Ron Paul,’’ said Anthony Corrado (government). Sandy Maisel (government) points out that while Paul is not likely to win the GOP nomination, winning delegates in states like Maine will help Paul shape the Republican agenda. “He wants to affect the Republican platform on some of the issues that he thinks are critical,’’ said Maisel.
