Wild Alaska salmon is the well-known tasty fish from Alaska’s shores, but others are also abundant in the cold northern waters. Peter Arlein ’07 and a graduate school classmate at University of Alaska Anchorage are now working to guide these fish to the market. In April, they launched Kodiak Jig Seafoods, a social enterprise connecting Kodiak’s Pacific cod and rockfish catchers with Anchorage consumers, fish markets, and restaurateurs. Arlein also currently works for a public relations firm supporting the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute.
