Connor O’Neil ’15 is part of a research team studying methods of protecting soft-shell clams from green crabs in Maine and spoke to the Freeport, Maine, town council June 3, urging continued support of an effort to control the green crab population.

A Freeport native, O’Neil is an environmental studies-policy major and economics minor who has researched and written about green crabs for Colby’s Environmental Studies Program. This spring he wrote a 26-page paper on the impacts of and potential solutions to the green crab invasion for a marine policy class.
