In July 2014 the University of South Carolina Press published Understanding Richard Russo by Kathleen Drowne ’92 as part of a series called Understanding Contemporary American Literature. In the book Drowne, associate professor of English and technical communication at Missouri University of Science and Technology and director of the school’s writing center, explores the techniques and significant themes in Russo’s work. Russo won the 2002 Pulitzer Prize in Fiction for his novel Empire Falls.
