Professor of Theater and Dance Lynne Conner joined 12 other arts policy experts from around the country Oct. 1-3 in a think tank retreat hosted by the Consolari Foundation in Mesa, Ariz. According to Stephen Tepper, dean of the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University and the event’s convener, the goal of the retreat was to “take advantage of some of the nation’s most creative thinkers around arts engagement and community impact in order to audition new, bold ideas” for a planned state-of-the-art music campus in downtown Mesa. The project includes a $180-million concert hall and a research and development center investigating healing through music. Conner was invited to share her research on audience engagement.
