Mike Latendresse is well-equipped for his new position as assistant coach of the Colby men’s hockey team. A former University of Maine hockey star who played for the 1992-93 NCAA championship team, Latendresse served as head boys’ hockey coach at Messalonskee High School in Oakland, Maine, for 12 years, culminating with leading the team to a 21-0 season and its first state Class B championship last winter.

Latendresse says his experience as a volunteer assistant coach at Colby last year “re-energized me as a coach.” Head Coach Blaise MacDonald added that he and Latendresse have similar coaching philosophies but are “different in enough ways where we can have a healthy give and take.”
