Elizabeth Frankel ’01 will play a large role in the artistic development of Alley Theatre in Houston as she takes on the position of director of new work. Frankel will work closely with the artistic staff, primarily focusing on the New Plays program. She will be responsible for creating an annual new play festival, developing and deepening the theater’s relationship with playwrights, commissioning plays, and working with writers through the production process.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Alley Theatre at such an important time in its history,” Frankel said. “I look forward to helping … create a robust new work program and to introducing Alley audiences to exciting new plays and musicals while introducing more writers to Houston.”
Frankel will begin her new position in June. She is currently literary manager at the Public Theater in New York, where she runs the literary department and the Emerging Writers Group.
