U.S. Senator Susan Collins will present a speech titled “Why Moderation and Bipartisanship Lead to Progress” at the 2015 George J. Mitchell International Lecture on April 9. Collins, a Republican and Caribou, Maine, native who is serving her fourth term in the U.S. Senate, received an honorary degree from Colby in September 2014 at the inauguration of the College’s 20th president, David A. Greene.

Presented by the Golfarb Center, the Mitchell Lecture Series brings a prominent foreign policy leader to campus each spring for a lecture and dinner designed to foster interaction with students, faculty, and members of the greater Waterville community while honoring former U.S. senator, statesman, international negotiator, and Waterville native George Mitchell. Mitchell will also be honored as a special guest at this year’s event.
