At the Kennebec Historical Society‘s April program, “Homes Down East,” architectural historians Earle G. Shettleworth ’70 and Scott Hanson and architect Christopher Glass will give a presentation based on their book, Homes Down East, in which they describe Maine summer homes and townhouses. The homes include the Walker/Bush compound in Kennebunkport and Winslow Homer’s cottage on Prouts Neck, among many others.

Maine state historian since 2004, Shettleworth has lectured and written extensively on Maine history and architecture, including in his most recent publication, The Blaine House (2014).

“Homes Down East” is scheduled for April 15 at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Gardiner.
