In his 10th Jack McMorrow mystery, author and managing editor of Colby Magazine Gerry Boyle ’78 hooks readers with “a well-written, suspenseful thriller,” weaving “his double-plot story with skill until all lines cross,” according to reviewer Lloyd Ferriss. The plot follows journalist-turned-sleuth McMorrow as he investigates a series of arsons and tries to protect his social-worker wife, Roxanne, and young daughter, Sophie, from a drug addict who blames Roxanne for her child’s death.

Like his protagonist, Boyle has a background in newspaper journalism, having written for the Waterville Morning Sentinel among other papers. His first Jack McMorrow mystery was published in 1993.
