Nature, the international weekly journal of Science, quoted Loren McClenachan, the Elizabeth and Lee Ainslie Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies, in a Sept. 21 article titled “Historical data: Hidden in the past.” McClenachan, a historical ecologist, “recalls that when she started her work in the early 2000s, it wasn’t clear whether old materials would yield scientifically useful results. But now that a track record of these kinds of study exists, she says, it is less risky to enter the discipline,” Nature reports.
