Loren McClenachan, the Elizabeth and Lee Ainslie Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies, published the article “Factors influencing ‘Sea to School’ purchases of local seafood products” in the journal Marine Policy. The paper argues that even though “local seafood procurement aligns with the objectives of ‘farm to school’ programming in the United States, local seafood purchases by schools are infrequent” and goes on to recommend that an “understanding the impediments to local seafood procurement can inform strategies to support such practices.”
