Decor Maine published the essay “Our Maine Ruinlust” by Adrian Blevins, associate professor of English, that chronicles two homes Blevins refurbished in her 15 years in Maine. The essay mainly focuses on her second home in East Winthrop, a house with beauty that eases her, a “huge house that the original owners unironically named ‘Olympus’ [that] also embarrasses me, so I spend half my life justifying it, quoting Thomas Jefferson’s idea about the differences between the beautiful and the sublime or Alain de Botton’s more recent musings cohering our emotional aspirations to our buildings in The Architecture of Happiness,” she wrote. The piece includes large, gorgeous images of the home’s interior.
