Colby has offered admission to 1,295 students for the Class of 2023. They were selected from a total applicant pool of 13,584.
“The quality and competitiveness of this year’s applicant pool made selecting the Class of 2023 especially challenging,” said Director of Admissions Randi Arsenault. “The students we admitted will bring an exceptional diversity of talents and perspectives to our community.”
This year’s admitted cohort represents 735 high schools, 47 states, and nearly 70 countries. Among American students, 34 percent identify as students of color and 9 percent are first-generation-to-college students.
Ninety percent of the admitted students are projected to graduate in the top 10 percent of their high school class. The median SAT is 1500. The median ACT score is 34.
“As we continue to broaden our reach, we have also expanded our financial aid programs and guaranteed experiences for students once they enroll,” said Vice President and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Matt Proto. “This combination has made Colby one of the most sought-after educations in the country for highly talented students from all backgrounds.”
In 2018 Colby announced the Fair Shot Fund to ensure that talented students from families in middle-income brackets will have access to Colby’s extraordinary educational opportunities by capping the parent/guardian annual contribution at $15,000 for families making up to $150,000 (with assets typical of that income level). Currently, 87 percent of families in the country fall below the $150,000 annual income threshold, and families making less than $150,000 can expect a proportionally smaller contribution.
For students from families with an annual household income of $60,000 and typical assets, the expected parent/guardian contribution is $0. For nearly a decade, Colby has replaced loans with grants in financial aid packages, making it possible for students to graduate debt-free.
Colby expects to enroll 560 students in the Class of 2023. Admitted students are invited to campus for a suite of programs in April to learn more about the College’s offerings, including DavisConnects, which facilitates internships, research experiences, and global opportunities for all students.
