At Colby College, an honor for a former slave

Colby, like many colleges, is grappling with its complicated historical ties to slavery. Other schools have done so only after outcry from students. Here, it took very little prompting for the president to coax his campus to confront this chapter of its history. “This is one of those stories that we never should have buried.
