Submission Process to NEH
STEP 1: Review the Summer Stipends Guidelines found under Guideline Resources at the NEH Summer Stipends website.
Begin to prepare your application.
STEP 2: To submit the application to NEH, you need to create a Grants.gov account as an individual, and this must be done at least two weeks before the submission deadline since it takes time to process the registration.
Please contact the Grants office ([email protected]) if you have any questions.
Deadline: two weeks prior to NEH submission deadline.
STEP 3: Two references are required for the application and their emails need to part of the initial submission. Enter only one email address for each recommender. NEH will contact these references directly. The deadline for the references to respond to NEH is in mid-October. The exact date will be listed in the Summer Stipend Guidelines. This is crucial for the application to be fully considered. You can monitor the status of your letters of recommendations to ensure the letters are being uploaded by the deadline (see NEH Summer Stipend Guidelines).
STEP 4: As part of the application, list the Provost as the “nominating official.” NEH will directly contact the Provost who will formally nominate via the NEH on–line system. The deadline for the Provost to respond to NEH is in mid-October. The exact date will be listed in the Summer Stipend Guidelines. This is crucial for the application to be fully considered.
STEP 5: Submit the application on or before the deadline. Please contact the Grants office ([email protected]) if you have any questions or would like us to review your application.
Deadline: Check the NEH Summer Stipends website for exact deadline date and time.
