Course Information
Now celebrating its 49th year at Colby College, the New England Seminar in Forensic Sciences is led by distinguished instructors from across the country. Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of current standard practices in the medical examiner/coroner and death investigation fields. Sessions are designed to provide current and exhaustive coverage in forensic science on an annual recurring basis.

Check-in
Early arrival check-in and key pickup will be 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, July 22nd in the Diamond Building. Guests who plan to check in on Saturday must indicate so in their registration.
Sunday conference check-in begins at 11:00 am in the Diamond Building and will continue until 5:00 pm.
Check-in for guests arriving after Sunday or outside our normal hours (8:00 am – 8:00 pm) can be arranged ahead of time. Please contact our office for more information.
Check-out
Check-out for the conference will be at 12:00 PM/Noon on Thursday, July 27th. Guests should plan to return their keys and access cards by 2:00 pm.
If you are checking out before Thursday or after hours, please contact our office about returning your keys.
Welcome Reception
The welcome reception is typically held on Sunday evening in the Diamond building Atrium. More information regarding the specific time and location will be released with the official schedule.
Special Feature
As a special feature, all are invited to join the Henry Ryan Memorial Lecture on Wednesday afternoon, July 26. This free program will focus on Death Certification and Release of Remains Permits with a speaker from Vital Records. More information about this program will be available at check-in.
Note: This Lecture is not counted toward CME Credit.
Lobster Bake
Typically held on Monday evening at the Roberts outdoor dining patio, the traditional Maine Lobster Bake is always great fun! Enjoy a perfect meal of lobster, steak, or steamed tofu and vegetables with all of the traditional sides, including steamed muscles and clams, dinner rolls, hot dogs, steamed potatoes, corn on the cob, watermelon, and blueberry lemon bars! Our bar is typically stocked with red and white wine and two kinds of beer. Registered guests twenty-one and older will be given one drink ticket each and can pay cash for additional drinks. Ice water, lemonade, and coffee will also be provided. In the event of bad weather, the lobster bake will be held indoors.
The lobster bake is included for all attendees and their guests registered for on-campus housing.
If you plan to stay on campus for the partial program or off-campus, you can attend the lobster bake for an additional fee.
Please sign up for the lobster bake when you register for the conference as we will not be able to add people to the guest list on site.

! Important Updates to Continuing Medical Education Credit !
Please note that as of January 2023, AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ will only be issued to physicians.
All non-physicians will receive certificates of completion indicating the number of hours participating in an accredited CME activity. The number of hours is equal to the number of credits offered to physicians.
This year’s conference has been approved for 26 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ or 26 hours of participation.
AMA Designation Statement:
The Maine Medical Education Trust designates this live activity for a maximum of 26 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
