Testimonials
From the moment I set foot on the Colby College campus, I knew the beauty of its surroundings would create an idyllic environment for music to thrive at the Atlantic Music Festival. What I didn’t realize was the importance of the support we were about to receive from Special Programs and its staff. I can say with confidence that the last decade wouldn’t have been possible without the competence and genuine care we received from Colby and its staff.

I love Colby and feel it’s a wonderful destination for summer programs because of the quality of the instruction, the collegiality of the faculty, attendees, and Colby staff, the beautiful environs, and the atmosphere that promotes quality conversation and the making of lifelong colleagues and friends. It’s why I keep coming back every year after almost 30 years.

There are tons of reasons my family looks forward to coming to Colby every year; rollerblading the campus, the awesome network of campus hiking trails, the diving board at the rec center, Gifford’s ice cream (every day!), rolling down the hills of the great front lawn, swimming off the dock at the Hume center, and every night time has great stargazing. Mostly, we love having the afternoons off so we can spend time doing whatever it is . . . together!

For me and my wife, the Great Books summer retreat on the majestic campus of Colby College is an aesthetically and intellectually enriching experience for those who value and enjoy not only quality literature but activities as well involving fine art exhibits, architecture, classical music, and opera concerts, college lectures, renowned movies, talent shows, meditative walks, indoor and outdoor swimming, tennis, and group barbecues, as well as field trips to nearby museums and historic towns.

The Great Books Week at Colby is an ideal experience. Participating in stimulating morning book discussions with other curious readers in a beautiful setting, free use recreational facilities, delicious food, group entertainment, and live musical evenings. It doesn’t get better than this.
