FAQs and Additional Information
Coverage and Services
All full-time Colby students must either have insurance coverage comparable to the plan offered through the Cross Benefit Solutions, or they are required to enroll in the College-offered plan. Details about the required coverage can be found at the Cross Benefit Solutions site. If a student’s current policy meets the coverage requirements, students may opt out of the insurance premium by completing the 2023-2024 online enroll/waive process through Wellfleet.
The premium for the 2023-2024 year is $2,178.00 for full year coverage from August 1, 2023 through July 31, 2024. The premium for the spring-only coverage is $1,268.00 for coverage from January 1, 2024 to July 31, 2024.
Students choosing to remain enrolled in the Colby plan offered are also required to complete the online enroll/waive process each year to affirm their decision to continue with the coverage and avoid receiving reminders to “elect” insurance coverage.
Additional information regarding available services can be found on the Colby Health Services page.
Financial Assistance
Funds are available to assist a limited number of financial aid students each year who do not have coverage at home. To apply for these resources, students should complete their financial aid application by the deadline, and submit the online insurance enroll/waive form by August 1, 2023, indicating that they do not have adequate or comparable insurance coverage. Student Financial Services (SFS) will review eligibility after the enroll/waive deadline and the insurance assistance or subsidy will be applied to students’ accounts soon thereafter. Over 300 students received this assistance during the 2022-23 school year. Students who received the subsidy in prior years will be considered for the subsidy in subsequent years as long as they submit their financial aid application timely and complete the insurance enroll/waiver form by August 1, indicating they do not have comparable insurance coverage elsewhere.
