An enthusiastic teacher and coordinator of the introductory Spanish courses, Barbara’s continuing goal is to make the Spanish language and culture come alive for her students. She attends conferences giving presentations and talks to colleagues to help them meet the pedagogical challenges and rewards of multi-media based curriculum. She is committed to bringing a new direction and focus to the introductory and intermediate Spanish courses through the use of multimedia technology and is a passionate Mac user. She has designed and developed an internationally award-winning web site of interactive study modules and activities that is used in over 115 countries.
At the recent MERLOT International Conference held in Atlanta, Barbara’s study module, was awarded the highest award of honor for all disciplines, the MERLOT Editors’ Choice Award. MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching) gave this award for the first time in September, 2002 to recognize and promote outstanding online resources designed to enhance teaching and learning and to honor the authors and developers of these resources for their contributions to the academic community.
