Dan and his wife Christine Gatto-Shea have three children. The live in Mount Vernon, Maine.
Publications
Shea has written or edited more than 20 books on American Politics. His most recent volume (as of 11/24) is The Rural Voter: The Politics of Place and the Disuniting of America (co-authored with Nicholas Jacobs). In 2019 Shea penned Why Vote? Essential Questions about the Future of Elections in America, and in 2012 Can We Talk? The Rise of Rude, Nasty, Stubborn Politics.
